Jack's Ah Ha Moment

I'm hoping tonight was an Ah Ha moment for Jack. When I entered the wrestling room to take him to swimming he was doing bear crawls across the wrestling room while Coach Nagy pushed him to finish. Jack was whining but he finished. As he collapsed on the floor I couldn't help but feel proud yet disappointed. I knew he had done something wrong but I was glad to see him not quit. This is the first time I have seen a coach push him where I think he needs to go.
At bedtime I told him I was disappointed that he had spit on Mark but I was proud that he didn't quit. He smiled. I said never let a coach break you. When they make you run or bear crawl say to yourself, "I'm going to finish this" and get it done. I believe he understood and I hope he returns to wrestling having learned a valuable lesson. Thanks Coach Nagy and thank you God for this opportunity.
Good job son.

Jack's Second Match at Baldwin 12.22.13

Sorry Jack we had video difficulties today. I ran out of memory on your first match so we don't have a video of that. You did win with a first period pin. The kid was from Plum.

Mommy was able to record your second match where you scored a third period pin against a kid from Baldwin. Next time take a shot in the first period please.

Great job today! We are proud of your effort and how you kept fighting throughout the match. If you ever get good at a take down you will be tough to beat.

Here is the second match from today.

Jack and Luke Update 11.8.11

Jack is doing well academically in school. He has A's and B's in all subjects. He excels in Science, Math and Social Studies. He needs work in reading and writing. Not a big surprise. Jack you can do whatever you put you mind to unfortunately you don't really like to read or write and don't take your time to do these things. That is one part of my job as dad, to help you to understand the importance of these skills and how they can help you in the future. I know you will do it!
Jack also needs to work on his in class behaviors. Working on not talking, singing and making fart noises during class, lol.
Luke you are growing like a weed. Your language skills are improving daily with the help of your motor-mouthed brother. Keep enjoying reading, playing outside and watching Calliou! You are going to be the fun-loving one in the family and I have to keep feeding your desire to have fun. Love you!
I am so lucky to have you two boys. You are the best thing that has happened to me and I wouldn't trade anything for having you in my life.

A Little Inspirational Clip

Outside of school you just learned to ride your bike! You got so good so quickly. I am amazed. You also learned how to swim this spring. This summer is going to be alot of fun!
Luke you are learning so fast! You are saying so many words and starting to put together two and three word phrases. You are a funny kid. You like to play tricks on mommy and you laugh at Jack when he gets mad.
I am looking forward to hangin with you boys this summer. We are going to Myrtle with the Stotsky's, Raystowne with the Rolands, and hopefully OBX with the Mt Lebo gang.
Keep having fun and stay positive.
Love, Dad

Jack's First Science Fair

On April 16, 2011 history was made! Jack participated in his first Science Fair at Kiski Area Senior High School. The day was a typically miserable spring day in Western PA. Jack had prepared a science experiment with 10 crickets in a box, adding 5 different cotton balls with 5 different smells (vinegar, apple juice, apple slice, rubbing alcohol, vanilla) to the box to see how the crickets react. The experiment itself proved nothing, lol! The crickets just tried to get out of the box no matter what smells were introduced. I have embedded the video that we took to the fair. We projected the video onto the wall of the gymnasium.
We learned a few things on this day.
1. Science Fairs are very loud. If you are going to have a video make sure that you have nice speakers.
2. Jack had the opportunity to play with several different experiments. The hands on experiments were the most popular ones. (blowing bubbles, candy dispenser rube goldberg machine, magnets and many more)
3. Jack love science and the hands on nature of the activities, keep this in mind educators, kids love to do and apply!
4. It is important to do activities like these with kids. They love science when presented in this fashion. We won't miss this opportunity each year.

Great job Jack! I am glad that we were able to share this experience.
